Data & AI Specialist (f/m/d), 100%
To drive our continuous organic growth, we are constantly looking for highly qualified professionals. To strengthen our team in the Global IT department we are looking for a dedicated Data & AI Specialist (f/m/d), 100%.
At Bachem, data and AI are becoming foundational to how we operate, innovate, and grow. Our Data & AI team partners with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, operations, and R&D to turn process data into decisions with measurable business impact. We have delivered analytical insights with measurable top-line impact and applications that chemists and engineers describe as fundamentally changing how they work. Now, we are looking for the next member of our team to build on this foundation and take it further.
In this role, you will work directly with the chemists, engineers, and operations experts whose processes you are analyzing to ask the questions they haven't thought to ask yet. You combine deep analytical skills with genuine curiosity about how things work: finding the signal in complex operational data, structuring it into robust data models, and translating insights into numbers that show up in the business results.
Your tasks:
- Work closely with business stakeholders across manufacturing, quality departments, supply chain, and R&D to identify high-value opportunities and frame the analytical questions that matter most.
- Build and maintain analysis-ready data models on our Azure and Databricks platform so that insights can be derived reliably and at scale.
- Analyze complex operational datasets using Python and SQL, including time-series analysis, process correlation, impurity tracing, equipment performance diagnostics, and more.
- Derive and communicate insights that connect directly to business outcomes, translating findings into decisions, not just dashboards.
- Develop analytical workflows and Databricks applications where they add value, enabling domain experts to access and act on data independently.
- Collaborate with internal and external data science specialists throughout the delivery lifecycle, from problem framing through validation and rollout.
- Leverage modern AI-assisted development tooling to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
Your profile:
- A background in a technical or scientific discipline that gives you an instinct for how manufacturing and related processes work and where data can make a difference, for example chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, process engineering, or similar.
- Analytical curiosity and the ability to ask the right business question before reaching for a tool. You understand what matters to our business partners and stakeholders, and you can turn that understanding into a well-framed data problem.
- Solid coding skills in Python and SQL, applied to real analytical challenges.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Databricks, or the demonstrated ability to pick them up quickly.
- A pragmatic delivery mindset: you validate early, iterate with stakeholders, and focus effort where it creates real value.
- A strong team spirit: you are a team player who delivers results through close collaboration within and across teams
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences, connecting insights to business outcomes.
- Fluency in English; German is a plus.
Our offer:
- Direct access to the business problems. You will sit with chemists and other experts whose work you are analyzing, understanding the process deeply enough to ask the right questions.
- Genuine ownership. Pick up use cases and drive them to production and adoption. The impact of your work is visible, traceable, and significant.
- A small, focused team with strong external data science expertise you can learn from and collaborate with.
- An early seat at the table in a Data & AI function that is still being shaped but has the track record to prove the approach works and the ambition to scale it across a global manufacturing organization.
- Flexible working hours with home office days and an option for obtaining additional vacation days through workload reduction
- Company‑run daycare center on the Bachem Campus in Bubendorf
- 60% coverage of pension fund contributions by Bachem AG as well as option for extra-mandatory pension provision with our Pension Plan Plus
- Access to benefits platforms with discounts from external partners
- Fresh, healthy and varied food in our staff restaurant
- A wide range of free sports activities on the Bachem Campus
