Patent Attorney (m/f/d)
As a qualified Patent Attorney (m/f/d) you will be a trusted advisor to our global Flavour &Fragrances & Active Beauty, S&T management teams, as well as to adjacent business functions. You will play a key role in driving and executing Givaudan's corporate intellectual property (IP) strategy and objectives.
You will report to the Head of Global Intellectual Property and are based in our office in Zug, Switzerland.
Your role:
- Provide legal advice on intellectual property issues.
- Manage relationship with S+T managers across F&F & AB, and adjacent business functions to effectively manage their IP portfolios
- Providing Head of IP with periodic reports of key issues and activities
- Mentoring junior colleagues.
- IP portfolio management: Drafting, filing, prosecution and maintenance of a portfolio of patents
- Drafting and negotiating IP related aspects of third party agreements
- Risk Management
- Supporting Head of IP in leading negotiations to resolve third party IP disputes and other contentious proceedings
- Representing the IP department at S&T business platform or Centre of Excellence level management meetings
Your profile includes:
- Qualification as a European Patent Attorney or an equivalent national qualification. Preference for dual qualification, that is, European Patent Attorney and a registered attorney before a relevant national office, such as US, UK, or DE offices
- Advanced degree (at least Masters level, and preferably a PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. chemical/Biological science)
- 5 years post-qualification experience in either a law-firm or an industrial practice
- Fluent English
- Thorough knowledge of patent and intellectual property laws globally
- Knowledge in drafting and negotiating intellectual property aspects of agreements with third parties
- In-depth knowledge of the fragrances, food and Cosmetics industry
