À propos de cette offre
In 2020, our normothermic perfusion platform enabled the world's first transplantation of a human liver preserved and treated outside the body - a result that moved multi-day organ preservation from theory to a patient who is alive today. You can read about it on www.apersys.com/news .
We are now finalizing the software that turns that breakthrough into a reliable, certifiable product, and we are looking for the person to lead it.
This is a rare engineering problem: hard real-time control of a life-critical system that keeps a human organ alive outside the body, built to medical-device standards.
As Software Lead, you own the software domain end to end - architecture, the codebase, the compliance story, and the team you grow around it.
What you'll own
- Lead the full software lifecycle under IEC 62304 - from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification & validation, and maintenance.
- Own the software architecture and detailed design, including real-time control in Structured Text on Beckhoff PLCs and higher-level application code.
- Serve as the software subject-matter expert and drive risk management alongside our engineering and clinical teams.
- Resolve issues in existing systems and keep the product's technical and regulatory documentation audit-ready.
- Grow and mentor the software team, and work directly with partners, suppliers, and clinicians - including participating in liver perfusion procedures, where you'll see your software keep an organ alive in real time.
What you bring
- Master's in computer science, medical technology (software focus), or a related field.
- 10+ years in software design and development, with real depth in IEC 62304 and the medical-device software lifecycle.
- Strong object-oriented programming plus PLC programming in Structured Text; Beckhoff experience preferred.
- Python, C, or C++ an advantage; medical-device cybersecurity a plus.
- A pragmatic, detail-driven engineer who communicates clearly across disciplines and thrives in a fast-moving startup.
- Fluent English — we work in English across the whole team.
What we offer
- A verified, first-in-human proof point behind you.
- End-to-end ownership of the software domain and the chance to grow your own team.
- Equity participation (stock package) in an early-stage company you can genuinely shape.
- Hybrid working possible.
- A mission-driven, interdisciplinary team working to overcome organ shortage.
We look forward to your application.
