Game Designer (100%; Temporary position until end of March 2026)
SOMNIACS is a pioneering company in the field of Extended Reality (XR). Our core activities include the development, production, and global distribution of Birdly® - the iconic full-body flight simulator - as well as the creation of innovative XR content.
To strengthen our XR content portfolio, we are seeking a versatile and creative Game Designer to join our development team either immediately or by mutual agreement. In this role, you will contribute to the design of entirely new XR experiences while enhancing and expanding our existing projects.
As part of a small and agile team, every contribution counts. You can expect a dynamic and fast-paced working environment, collaborating with cutting-edge hardware to deliver immersive experiences. This position offers hands-on involvement across multiple disciplines and continuous opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging gameplay mechanics and features
- Collaborate with the design team to develop new concepts and ideas
- Plan and construct new levels, as well as refine existing ones
- Create high-quality, game-ready assets and modular components
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on released games or interactive experiences
- Proficient in Unreal Engine and Blueprint scripting
- Strong design thinking capabilities with a focus on flexible and impactful features
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Broad expertise in game design, with a willingness to contribute across disciplines
- Passionate, solution-oriented, and committed to innovation
- Fluency in both German and English
- Swiss citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit/EU passport
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Experience)
- Experience in XR game design
- Proficiency in C++
- Familiarity with procedural content generation (e.g., code-based, Unreal’s PCG system)
