As the Chief of Staff and Head of Portfolio Management & Agile Operations for Global Ethics and Compliance, you will play a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of the Ethics and Compliance (E&C) functions globally.

This position combines strategic oversight, agile transformation within the GEC function, portfolio management, operational excellence, and change management to support and drive the implementation and adoption of E&C initiatives. The successful candidate will bring an agile mindset and act as a strategic advisor, be a people leader role modeling Takeda’s Values and leadership behaviors, ensure the smooth running of the GEC function, and facilitate key projects for delivery at pace.

Leading the team, the main areas of responsibilities are: 

 

Strategic and Operational Leadership 

  • Develop, periodically review, and refresh Our E&C strategy and strategic roadmaps, working with the leadership team and internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Responsible for the GEC business planning process (MRP, MYC, LBE), working with Finance and GEC Leaders, overseeing the budget planning and project budget allocation processes. 

  • Leads GEC reporting needs, including TET monthly reporting, CEO reviews, etc.  

  • Track and report on strategy implementation and performance, including KPI metrics across various divisions. 

  • Oversee the GEC project portfolio, ensuring projects align with strategic goals and are executed efficiently.  

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of portfolio management and operational solutions across E&C teams.  

  • Amplify and drive adoption of the agile leadership journey and the advancement of E&C strategic initiatives.  

 

Agile Portfolio Management 

  • Manage the full cycle of Agile Portfolio management, from KPI work planning and milestone setting to monthly tracking of projects and KPIs. 

  • Create transparency of project status and milestones through regular portfolio reviews. 

  • Maintain a project SharePoint for updates and manage the E&C Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) tracking for budgeting purposes. 

  • Defines and implements tools/processes driving efficiency to portfolio management and delivery to BU/BFs (release roadmap, embedded team’s engagement schedule, etc.) 

  • Implement initiatives driving continuous improvement.  

 

Governance and Compliance Oversight 

  • In partnership with CECO’s EA, plans and organizes Global Ethics and Compliance Leadership Team (GECLT) meetings, including preparing agendas and maintaining action logs. 

  • Oversee audit processes and the monitoring of action plans to ensure adherence to internal and external requirements. 

  

Change Management 

  • Oversee change management processes for global projects and initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with organizational goals. 

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive adoption, including change impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and communication plans, and partnering with the learning team on training programs. 

 

Building Agile Capability across E&C  

  • Lead initiatives for agile capability building within the E&C team. 

  • Think proactively about ways to enhance the agility of ways of working and processes within GEC. 

  • Actively participate and contribute to the enterprise agile community.  

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, or related field preferred. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in portfolio management, finance, management consulting, or a related field, with significant leadership experience. 

  • Demonstrated strong project and program management skills and experience in managing large, complex projects leveraging agile methodology. Experience related to Ethics & Compliance projects preferred.  

  • Proven track record of driving change.  

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, adept at managing multiple tasks and navigating complex situations. 

  • Preferred knowledge of global compliance laws, regulations, and best practices. 

  • Leader who develops teams and talents to reach their potential while supporting and driving high performance. 

  • High ethical standards, consistently exercising good judgment.  

  • Learning Agility, curiosity mindset, proactive, and self-motivated & effective in a matrixed organization & stakeholder engagement.  

  • A driver able to animate, facilitate and lead senior team working sessions, discussions and decision making.
