The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is looking for a Director of Operations to lead its scientific support infrastructure into its next chapter. This senior leadership role oversees scientific support for the FMI research community, integrating cutting-edge technology platforms with an agile operational program to advance FMI’s research areas — neurobiology, genome regulation, and multicellular systems.
In this role, you will
Act as a strategic partner to FMI research groups, ensuring an effective operational infrastructure that enables world-class scientific discovery.Manage and develop technology platform teams.Oversee safety and security, including business continuity and emergency management. Manage compliance of lab operations with regulatory requirements. Represent FMI to external stakeholders.
About you
Proven experience in scientific leadership and management.Strong track record in multi-project management and operational excellence.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with functions such as Finance, HR, and Legal.Commitment to scientific excellence and continuous process improvement. Fluency in English and German. PhD (or equivalent) in Natural Sciences.
