The Global Category Manager will be responsible for the procurement of IT software, hardware, consultancy and telecoms services. Working closely with the Head of IT and Head of Indirect Procurement, you will take ownership of sourcing for the category, negotiate agreements and lead global procurement projects.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Provide leadership in defining and implementing the global strategy for IT, Telecommunications & IT consulting category;
- Create and lead the sourcing strategy for the category to deliver the lowest total cost of acquisition for products or services, while delivering improved value and service;
- Develop together with Head of IT and Head of Indirect Procurement a pipeline of projects based on spend analysis which are fully aligned with category strategy and criticality to the business;
- Lead global tenders & sourcing projects as well as contract negotiation to deliver best value and ensure compliance with the supplier code of conduct.
- Coordinate and manage of all global procurement projects for the IT category:
- Ensure that the procurement process is run in the most efficient way and be accountable for contract finalization and related timelines;
- Act as the single point of contact in providing expert leadership to the sourcing function for IT category;
- Understand the best practices in the sourcing function and to incorporate them into the category strategy;
- Implement a strategic supplier management program and reduce the number of non-strategic suppliers;
- Implement effective global contract management practices, supplier due diligence and supplier risk management.
Key skills / requirements
- 10 years' worth of experience in a strategic procurement role with an international focus and background in the IT category (Hardware, Software, Telecommunications / Network);
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, IT or engineering and a qualification in purchasing and supply chain professional bodies;
- Contractual experience, with a background in technology contracts (e.g. licenses, SLA, IT services, SaaS, Cloud);
- Experience in strategic sourcing & negotiating agreements with large IT suppliers (e.g. Microsoft, SAP, etc);
- Passion for the IT & technology world and understands the market trends;
- Strong Leadership & Influencing skills to work in a matrix organization;
- Solid financial background
- Fluent in German and English
