The job description says you should be able to write and speak German fluently, but it doesn’t mention that it’s more important to understand Swiss German 100%—and ideally speak it as well. If you can’t do that yet, you have no chance of getting hired; they’d rather turn away professionals with a gun permit. It’s a real shame, because you get used to the language. During the initial phone interview, the woman spoke High German at first, but when I asked questions, she suddenly switched to slurred Swiss German. But it seems they don’t need professionals like me.

More tolerance when it comes to language (German as a native language)—yet still no chance of getting this job; it’s borderline racist. I mean, you do make an effort to learn the language and put it into practice, but it takes time. With this job, it would naturally have been easier to master the language since you’d be interacting with people, but oh well…
