This works well in the company
The hotel can provide experience in a large international hospitality operation, and some individual colleagues were professional and supportive. However, after several seasons, I cannot identify anything that would make me recommend the employer to another seasonal cleaner, room attendant, steward or other operational employee. The limited positives were outweighed by the workload, costs, accommodation uncertainty, internal conflicts and the way employee concerns were handled.
This could be improved
I worked at AlpenGold Hotel Davos for several seasons and, based on that experience, I would not recommend applying for a seasonal operational position there. The main problem was not one isolated incident, but a repeated pattern: high workload, compensation that did not feel adequate for the costs and conditions, poor staff meals, unclear staff accommodation arrangements, unresolved conflicts, opaque tip distribution and HR communication that I experienced as dismissive and at times intimidating. Important details were often not made clear before arrival. This included the exact room arrangement, rent, rental contracts, SERAFE responsibility, paid leave procedures and, in one later contract proposal, even a different job title, duties and salary conditions. Too often, employees were expected to adapt only after the problem had already appeared. The SPA environment was especially difficult. In my experience, it was marked by gossip, internal conflict, poor communication and a tip system that employees could not independently verify. Questions about uncomfortable topics were not handled constructively, and responsibility was often passed between department managers and HR. The company should provide every seasonal employee with complete written conditions before travel, introduce transparent tip reporting, use professional conflict-resolution procedures and ensure that HR responds directly and respectfully. My advice to future applicants is simple: do not rely on verbal promises. Get every employment and accommodation condition in writing. Personally, I would choose another employer.
