Director of Nursing at the Department of Interdisciplinary Centres
Within the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), the Department of Interdisciplinary Centres (DCI) has the primary mission of providing specialised acute medical services to patients and other clinical services of the CHUV, with a transversal vision. The DCI is composed of seven services: the emergency department, adult intensive care, anaesthesia, the endoscopy centre, the main operating theatre, the emergency medical call centre (CASU 144) and the pharmacy, bringing together more than 1,500 staff members.

Department Director of Nursing
Context
In this key role, as a member of the Department Directorate, you will ensure the leadership of the entire nursing sector, supported by a team of managers responsible for more than 880 nursing professionals. You will encourage the development of the services that make up the department and ensure the stability of their missions.

Mission
- Contribute to the strategic and budgetary management of the department in partnership with other members of the leadership
- Guarantee the services and quality of care within the framework of the department’s development project and the CHUV’s nursing policy, respecting budgetary targets
- Manage the development of care that is both reliable and innovative for patients and their relatives
- Embody and promote a participative, respectful and empowering managerial culture while ensuring the application of institutional directives
- Actively participate, within the CHUV Nursing Directorate College, in the promotion of nursing, reflections on development, identification and preparation of successors, training and research.
Profile
- Master’s degree in nursing sciences and diploma in one of the department’s clinical specialisations
- Advanced training in healthcare management
- Proven clinical experience in one of the department’s specialisation areas
- Confirmed experience in management, team leadership and large-scale management of a care structure within a major hospital centre
- Successful experience in project management and change support
- Ability to communicate, influence, inspire a vision and values, to unite and sustainably mobilise staff
- Capacity to delegate, manage conflicts and make sound decisions
- Tenacity, perseverance, rigour and organisation
- Interest in the development of nursing research as well as in "Evidence Based Nursing"
- Ability to collaborate interprofessionally and foster synergies between services
- Ability to periodically assume the nursing leadership on-call duty for the entire CHUV (excluding psychiatry)
