Cooperative active for over 60 years in the field of billing and management of medical practices, we have around ten agencies and employ more than 350 staff nationwide. Our services support thousands of healthcare professionals daily: their availability is critical.
PostgreSQL is our target data platform and its scope expands with each migration wave. To ensure its daily operation, we are looking for a:
PostgreSQL DBA – Operations (M/F)
This position covers both the daily operation of our PostgreSQL databases — availability, reliability and performance in production — and contributing to the design and industrialisation of our data platform, in close collaboration with the Platform Management teams.
Your mission
Operations and availability
- Ensure the administration and proper functioning of production PostgreSQL databases
- Guarantee the availability, reliability and performance of data services
- Manage backups, restorations, replication, high availability and disaster recovery, and regularly test their proper functioning
- Plan and execute updates, patches and changes in production
- Monitor databases, analyse metrics and anticipate capacity and performance issues
- Perform tuning and optimisation of queries and instances
Design and industrialisation
- Contribute to the design of database architectures and their deployment on our platform
- Participate in automating provisioning, backups, updates and failovers
- Work with the Platform Management teams on the evolution of the data platform
- Define and maintain operational standards for databases deployed on the platform
Incident and problem management
- Handle level 2/3 incidents within the database scope
- Analyse root causes and lead sustainable corrective actions
- Participate in an on-call rotation outside business hours
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational procedures
Migration and support
- Participate in implementing the migration of historical databases to PostgreSQL
- Validate the performance and compliance of migrated databases
- Provide support to development teams and business teams
- Document procedures, runbooks and best practices, and automate recurring tasks
Your profile
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, databases or equivalent training
Experience: minimum 4 years in administration and operation of PostgreSQL databases in a production environment
Technical skills
- Solid experience in PostgreSQL administration: replication, backup and restoration, HA/DR
- Experience in tuning and performance optimisation
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
- Scripting (Shell, Python) for automating operational tasks
- Good knowledge of database security
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change): an advantage
- Experience with databases deployed on Kubernetes is a plus
- Experience with other engines (SAP ASE, MS SQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis) is appreciated
Languages
- Fluent French or German
- English level B1/B2 minimum required
- The second national language is a real asset
