In a nutshell
In this internship, you will have the opportunity to engage with various procedures carried out by an SEM administrative unit in the area of admission and residence of foreign persons.
The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) is responsible for all migration law matters in Switzerland. The Admission and Residence Department examines applications for entry of foreign nationals (visas) and possible removal measures (expulsions, entry bans). SEM also decides on the approval for issuing or extending residence permits (with or without employment), advises cantonal authorities on migration issues, and monitors the application of federal legislation in the migration area.
