About the job
The University Library Zurich (UB), together with the Central Library Zurich, ensures the library provision for the University of Zurich. Its services are primarily aimed at researchers, lecturers and students of UZH. It is also accessible to the public.The UB Natural Sciences serves the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Vetsuisse Faculty and the Department of Informatics as well as interested professionals with scientific information and comprises four library locations. It offers a diverse and innovative range of courses, teaching events and advisory services as well as attractive learning and working spaces on the Irchel campus, in the Botanical Garden of the University of Zurich and at the Veterinary Hospital.
Liaison Librarian UB Natural Sciences

Tasks
In a team together with other Liaison Librarians (LL) for Natural Sciences:
- Selection of information resources according to university needs, participation in the licensing of electronic media
- Design and implementation of courses and participation in teaching events on topics such as handling scientific information, research with artificial intelligence, publishing or research data management
- Advising students, researchers and lecturers on subject-specific enquiries and research
- Networking with researchers and lecturers of the department as well as with the Liaison Librarians from other areas of the UB and ZB
- Participation in the further development of the LL service offerings at the UB and ZB together with other units within the UB and at UZH
Profile
- Completed university degree in natural sciences, doctorate advantageous
- Further training (e.g. CAS, MAS) and/or experience in scientific library work advantageous
- Ability to think interdisciplinarily
- Didactic know-how, teaching experience
- Enjoyment in meeting people in the university environment
- Efficient and independent working style
- Willingness to perform, high customer orientation, team and communication skills
- Openness to flexible forms of work and innovations in scientific librarianship
- Very good German and English skills, spoken and written
