Administrative Secretary 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,300 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Centre for Foreigners' Administrative Detention (ZAA) is one of the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of eight main departments of JuWe – and is a specialised institution for the enforcement of measures according to the Foreigners and Integration Act. The ZAA offers space for around 130 detained persons.
For our administration, we are looking for an initiative, organised and team-oriented personality to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited until 31 October 2027.
This is your area of responsibility
- You manage the detainee administration, process admissions, discharges and transfers of detained persons, make changes and monitor deadlines
- You also organise detainee transports (e.g. to court or hospital) and are responsible for checking, approving/rejecting applications for night/day stops
- In this varied role, you maintain telephone and written contact throughout Switzerland with referring authorities, psychiatric hospitals, courts and the police
- Furthermore, you take care of detainee accounting/cash management, share responsibility for ordering and take on overarching administrative tasks
This is what you bring
- After completing your commercial basic training, you have worked in similar roles - ideally in public administration
- You have confident German language skills as well as good French skills in spoken and written form. English skills are an advantage. You apply your IT knowledge skilfully
- You enjoy working in shifts as well as on weekends and public holidays. Working hours are in the early shift between 07:00 and 16:00 and in the late shift, on weekends and public holidays, between 10:00 and 19:00. Mobility is an advantage
- Your very good comprehension, adaptability and structured way of working make it easier for you to start this activity
- You have an impeccable reputation, i.e. your criminal record and debt enforcement information show no relevant entries
