Supervisor / Caretaker Workshop Service 80 - 100%The Department of Justice and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Affoltern am Albis Prison (GFA) is one of the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of eight main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialised in the closed enforcement of custodial sentences. The GFA offers accommodation for about 65 detainees. In addition to the concept of group enforcement, which aims at increased personal responsibility of the inmates, stage-appropriate education (BiSt) is offered.
For our workshop service, we are looking for a stable, socially competent and resilient personality to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited to 12 months from the start date.
Your tasks
- Leadership, guidance and motivation of around 60 inmates, taking into account their abilities as well as their current physical and mental condition
- Promotion of the inmates' personal development with a view to their reintegration
- Ensuring correct recording of work earnings
- Participation in projects of the work operation
- Drafting of leadership record entries, reports and hearings as well as handling other administrative tasks
- Support in crisis situations
Your profile
- Completed basic vocational training in a craft-technical field and several years of professional experience
- Initial experience in pedagogy an advantage
- Fluent German skills in spoken and written form; knowledge of other languages an advantage
- Open-mindedness in thinking and acting, ability to work in a team as well as enjoyment in dealing with people of different social and cultural backgrounds and in crisis situations
- Minimum age of 25 years
- Impeccable reputation
