Course Instructor 'French' (approx. 20 - 30% hourly wage)

The Language Center of the University of Basel promotes language acquisition as well as language and communication skills in around 20 languages for students, researchers, and staff for study, work, and everyday life.

Your tasks

• Language teaching (in-person courses, blended learning) using contemporary didactic methods, use of new technologies (e.g., digital whiteboards) as well as the ADAM learning platform at levels A1 to C1/C2 of the CEFR, approx. 2-4 lessons per week per semester in various course formats (e.g., intensive courses before the semester starts)
• Course planning including conception, preparation and follow-up of individual teaching units, development and continuous updating of teaching materials, planning, creation, and implementation of learning success controls including correction and feedback
• Learning support and counseling of participants, conducting placement tests, if necessary language proficiency assessments
• Implementation of the quality standards of the Language Center as a university institution and independent as well as cooperative teamwork
• Contact person for interested parties and course participants
• Participation in internal training courses of the Language Center

Your profile

• Completed French studies or comparable qualification (at least MA degree, teaching diploma or equivalent)
• Native French speaker or comparable French competence (C2); very good German skills (at least B2)
• Several years of experience in teaching French at university level
• Enjoy teaching a demanding, academic audience considering the needs of different target groups (students, staff, etc.)
• Willingness to work in a team, high degree of independence, responsibility, and flexibility
• Interest in personal further education
