Tasks
Application processing: During the internship, you will support the management of the Swisslos Fund in reviewing and administratively processing project applications as well as in obtaining information.
Consultation: Depending on expertise and interests, you will be involved in advising applicants.
Reports: The government council decides on the applications to the Swisslos Fund based on written reports including statements from cantonal specialist offices. If necessary, you will take on the drafting and editing of such reports.
Profile
Experience: The internship is intended to give career starters an interesting insight into charitable projects of all kinds as well as into the work of a cantonal administration. The internship is also suitable for people who wish to reorient themselves towards project management and fundraising after gaining practical professional experience.
Personality: You are committed, communicative and service-oriented.
Education: You have completed or are about to complete a higher education qualification in the social or environmental field. IT user skills and good knowledge of the Basel region are important prerequisites.
Language: Solid German skills in spoken and written form are important for this internship. Other languages are welcome but optional.
Insight into our work
The General Secretariat is the central hub of the Department of Justice and Security Basel-Stadt. It comprehensively supports the head of the department in leadership and control tasks and contributes significantly to the implementation of the department's strategic goals. It is responsible for smooth political business processing as well as internal and external communication. In addition, it provides central cross-sectional services in the areas of legal services, finance, personnel, IT, procurement and building management, thus supporting the operational areas of the department. The specialist offices "Swisslos Fund" and "Violence Protection and Victim Support" are also located in the General Secretariat.
The Swisslos Fund reviews up to 600 applications annually for charitable and benevolent projects, particularly in the areas of culture, environment and development, social affairs, health, youth and education.
