Senior EHS Expert – Risk Management & Technical Safety (f/m/d)

Your Mission

As a Senior EHS Expert – Risk Management & Technical Safety, you take professional responsibility for risk management and technical safety at the Bern site.

You act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Risk Management, Technical Safety and Incident Investigation and accompany technical projects throughout their entire lifecycle. In doing so, you work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and EHS and drive the continuous development of safety standards at the site.

An essential part of the role is the professional support and further development of EHS specialists as well as advising managers and project teams.

Please apply especially if you have independently moderated and conducted risk analyses (e.g. HAZOP, Bow Tie or FMEA), incident investigations or technical safety assessments and have experience in the professional development and support of other specialists.

This is not a classic EHS generalist role. We are looking for a personality with solid experience in technical safety, risk management and the moderation of complex risk analyses.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Risk Management & Hazard Analysis

• Moderation and execution of risk analyses and hazard assessments (HAZOP, Bow Tie, FMEA, JSA)
• Establishment and further development of the site-wide Risk Register
• Development of risk mitigation strategies for processes, plants and activities
• Ensuring a consistent approach according to ISO 45001 and CSL Technical Standards

Technical Safety & Incident Investigation

• Conducting technical safety assessments
• Leading pSIF investigations and root cause analyses (ICAM, TapRooT®, RCA)
• Definition and follow-up of sustainable preventive measures
• Incorporation of lessons learned into standards, SOPs and training

Engineering & Projects

• EHS support for construction, modernisation and plant projects
• Participation in design reviews, HAZOPs, PSSR, change controls and technical approvals
• Ensuring compliance with global Technical Standards
• Professional coordination of EHS activities in the project environment

Coaching & Stakeholder Management

• Professional support and mentoring of EHS specialists
• Advising managers and project teams on technical risks
• Moderation of workshops and risk-based decision-making processes
• Promoting a sustainable safety and risk culture

Compliance & Management System

• Ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, Swiss legislation and CSL standards
• Further development of processes, standards and work instructions
• Support with audits, inspections and regulatory contacts

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

• 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in technical safety, process safety, risk engineering or EHS in a technically demanding environment
• Proven experience in moderating risk analyses and hazard assessments
• Experience in incident investigations and root cause methods
• Experience in supporting technical projects
• Experience in coaching, mentoring or professional guidance of specialists

Professional Qualifications

• Degree in safety engineering, engineering, chemistry, process engineering, environmental sciences or a comparable field
• Solid knowledge in:
  • ISO 45001
  • Risk Management
  • Technical Safety
  • Machine and plant safety
  • Hazardous materials management

• Proactive, structured and solution-oriented working style
• Confident appearance towards specialists, managers and project teams

Languages

• German: business fluent
• English: very good written and spoken skills
