Nurses for the Neonatology Intensive Care Unit
To complete its team, the woman-mother-child department is looking for experienced nurses in intensive care (ICU) at a work rate between 80% and 100% for the neonatology intensive care unit (starting as soon as possible or to be agreed).
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital Centre (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME) brings together the Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Paediatrics and Child and Adolescent Surgery Services. More than 1,500 professionals work within this department. We care for women throughout their lives in gynaecological, obstetrical and psychosocial aspects, as well as children from birth to adolescence.
The Neonatology Service's mission is to provide specialised care to all high-risk newborns, whether full-term or premature. Focused on the individualisation and development of the child and on parental involvement, care is integrated into a multidisciplinary team approach that ensures continuity of care from the delivery room to the child's return home or to a paediatric service near the home.
The neonatology service in a few figures includes:
- A level III reference centre for intensive and specialised care for premature newborns or those with complex pathologies
- Three units (intensive care, intermediate care, specialised care including a skin-to-skin unit) that welcome more than 800 newborns each year
- More than 160 caregivers who play a key role in the overall care of the child and their family.
Mission
- You provide specialised and safe care to premature newborns or those requiring increased monitoring
- You support families by creating a bond of trust from the first hours of life
- You actively participate in the care partnership with families, fully integrating them into the care and decision-making process
- You work closely with a dynamic multidisciplinary team
- You contribute to innovation by participating in research projects, teaching and continuous quality improvement of care.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (for diplomas obtained abroad, recognition by the Swiss Red Cross is mandatory)
- You have at least 3 years of confirmed experience in neonatology in the intensive care sector
- You hold a specialisation in paediatric and neonatal intensive care
- You are rigorous, have a keen sense of observation and good stress resistance
- You possess excellent communication and listening skills, both with patients and their parents and with the interprofessional team
- You are eager to learn and develop your knowledge and skills in neonatology
- You are proficient in common IT environments (MS Office) and knowledge of institutional IT applications is an asset.
We offer
- A stimulating work environment within a dynamic team
- Self-scheduled rosters promoting a better work-life balance
