Head of the Binningen Community and School Library

About the job

We are looking for a leader for the Binningen Community and School Library with a 60% workload, starting immediately or by arrangement.

Your tasks include:

• You will manage the Binningen Community and School Library, which is operated by the GGG Basel City Library on behalf of the municipality.
• You act as the interface between the City Library and the municipality of Binningen, maintain close communication with the school management and primary school teachers, and ensure the implementation of the municipality’s service mandate.
• You lead a team of three people both in terms of personnel and professionally.
• You are responsible for the media, the maintenance and attractive presentation of the collection and furniture, as well as the quality and welcoming atmosphere of the premises.
• You plan and organise reading promotion projects and, together with your team, ensure the regular class workshops.
• You plan, organise and moderate events for adults and children.
• You work operationally in the Binningen branch team and regularly take shifts at the lending desk, including once a month on a Saturday.
• You support the Branch and Reading Promotion Management in fulfilling the overall mandate of the GGG Basel City Library.

You bring the following:

• You have a completed degree in Information Sciences (or a comparable degree) or a completed vocational training in I&D with at least 5 years of experience in the library sector.
• Ideally, you have several years of leadership experience or possess the relevant soft skills that make it easy for you to develop into a leadership role.
• You are passionate about working with children and young people and have a good understanding of their living environments.
• You enjoy collaborating with teachers and pupils and bring skills in reading promotion and media education.
• You have a strong service orientation and ensure impeccable dealings with customers.
• You are an absolute team player and enjoy networking. Your loyalty, independent working style and high resilience characterise you.
