The JVA Hindelbank is the only correctional facility for women in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. It serves the penal and measures enforcement with women in both closed and open sections. There are 107 places available. The women admitted live within the institution in residential groups and work on weekdays in various work areas. The time spent in JVA Hindelbank is intended to help the women create the conditions for reintegration into society, so that they can lead a crime-free and responsible life after release.

Your tasks

The Atelier produces high-quality products with the women admitted for sale on the open market. Various products are created from textiles, paper and other raw materials. Contract and small series work are also carried out.
As an intern, you will participate with professional support in instructing and accompanying work with the women admitted. Gradually, you will actively and independently take on various tasks according to work pedagogy principles. In our small, lively and experienced team, you will quickly become an important team player.

Your profile

You are at least 24 years old and have completed vocational training. In addition, you have good manual skills and an interest in work pedagogy. You are enthusiastic and structured, able to instruct others, and the work with people with challenging biographies appeals to you. You remain calm and clear even in difficult and hectic situations.
Language skills: German (spoken and written), foreign languages (spoken) are desirable.

About the Office of Correctional Services

The Office of Correctional Services (AJV) employs around 1000 staff within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) and is responsible for open and closed penal and measures enforcement for adults and juveniles. To fulfil this task, the office has four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre, as well as probation and enforcement services at its disposal.
