Medical Secretary for the Neurosurgery Department
We are looking for a medical secretary at an 80% workload, within the Neurosurgery Department attached to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, starting 1st September 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DNC) brings together the Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuropsychology, and Neurorehabilitation Services, as well as several internationally renowned specialised and research centres. It provides integrated care for diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system.
The Neurosurgery Service cares for adult and paediatric patients with brain and spinal pathologies, whether traumatic, tumoral, degenerative, vascular, or congenital. Its activity covers both outpatient consultations and inpatient care.
Mission
- You ensure the reception of patients, their relatives, visitors, and collaborators in accordance with institutional values and guidelines
- You manage telephone calls and adapt your communication to the needs of different interlocutors
- You inform patients about the administrative aspects of their care
- You provide medical secretarial support to one or more senior doctors and contribute to the smooth running of their consultations
- You manage medical records and guarantee the confidentiality of patient data
- You schedule medical appointments, prepare consultations, and ensure the administrative follow-up of medical activities
- You contribute to the quality of reception and the smooth administrative functioning of the service.
Profile
- You hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee, a medical secretary diploma, or an equivalent qualification
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- You have excellent typing skills as well as very good writing abilities
- You master medical terminology and are comfortable in a demanding medico-administrative environment
- You have good knowledge of common office tools, especially Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of CHUV institutional software is an asset
- You demonstrate excellent reception and service skills, rigour, and organisation
- You possess good analytical, synthesis, and adaptability skills
- You enjoy teamwork and know how to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
