To strengthen our team and to establish our new location in Basel Dreispitz, we are looking for a committed and innovative personality with a strong background in Data Engineering. You can expect diverse tasks in teaching, research, and development with great creative freedom.

The scope of tasks includes:

In teaching:

Module responsibility in data-engineering-specific courses in the bachelor's degree programs in Computer Science, Data Science, MAS Data Science, and as needed in other degree programs.
Participation in basic modules of the bachelor's degree programs in Computer Science and Data Science.
Teaching activities in core modules of the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE), especially focusing on Data Engineering, distributed data platforms, and data-driven systems.
Supervision of student projects at bachelor and master levels, especially on topics such as data infrastructure, data integration, and real-time data processing.

In research and development:

Further development and profiling of the Data Engineering field at the institute, with the possibility to establish your own research group with mid-level staff at our new location.
Development and research of innovative approaches in the areas of data pipelines, data integration, streaming technologies, cloud data platforms, as well as their connection with HPC and AI applications.
Acquisition, implementation, and management of application-oriented R&D projects in collaboration with industry partners and funding institutions.
Technical and personnel leadership in the research area.
Active participation in the strategic development of the institute and the University of Applied Sciences in Computer Science.

Your profile:

University degree with a doctorate in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Extensive experience in databases and data engineering, ideally with project management experience in industry.
Willingness to acquire projects and network with relevant actors in research and practice.
Higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire it within the scope of the professorship.
Strong team and communication skills as well as high social and self-competence.
Interest in innovative learning methods as well as in the further development of degree programs and research structures.
