About the job

We embrace diversity and openness and create a space where curiosity and joy in art come together. Become part of a warm team that jointly shapes cultural experiences and welcomes people from the most diverse backgrounds.
We are looking for you from 1 March 2027 or by arrangement.
Shop Manager, 100%
Your tasks
In this versatile key position, you will take on the strategic, operational and personnel management of our two museum shops. Together with your team, you design and maintain an attractive, target group-specific range that is closely aligned with our exhibitions, collections and current trends in retail. You create a distinctive assortment, from sophisticated book selections to exhibition-related products and editions with artists and designers, and develop "Kunsthaus" as a private label. With pop-ups, events and collaborations, you turn the shops into experiential spaces.
Together with the visitor service, you ensure an inspiring customer journey for our visitors. You competently lead and promote your directly subordinate employees and are responsible for efficient resource and deployment planning. With your strong sales drive and experience in the service sector, you drive sales and margin forward while inspiring your team as a role model for customer advice and active selling.
In addition to ensuring smooth, service-oriented daily operations including professional cash management and inventory control, you expertly steer the shops based on business management key figures. This role also focuses on developing data-driven sales strategies. From key figures such as footfall, conversion, basket size and audience data, targeted measures for assortment, pricing and placement are derived. Your goal is to sustainably increase sales and contribution margin and position the shops as a successful source of income for our museum.
Your profile
- Completed training in a commercial field or retail with additional business management education, a qualification in cultural management or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in retail, including at least 3 years in a leadership role with sales responsibility
- Practical project management and/or leadership experience as well as advanced, solid knowledge in tactical assortment planning, purchasing, inventory management, pricing and trend analysis
- Ability to prioritise and efficiently and proactively manage personnel and financial resources
- Strong business acumen and expertise in key figure- and data-driven management of shops and effective sales strategies
- Affinity for art, culture, design and trends as well as conceptual strength to connect cultural content with commercial offers
- Confident use of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams), cash register and inventory management systems as well as common reporting tools
- Languages: German and English (spoken/written), additional languages an advantage
