We are seeking a hands-on analytical DSP Junior scientist/Scientist to carry downstream activities on recombinant protein and support the development, execution, and continuous improvement of downstream processes in a dynamic biotech environment. In this role, you will assess the concentration, purity, identity, and quality of samples throughout the process. You will work independently according to established SOPs and guidance from experienced colleagues while contributing to troubleshooting, process optimization, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independent work according to SOPs and guidance of others in the laboratory.
- Execution and documentation of process steps in production.
- Responsible for process steps in protein purification and characterization.
- Monitoring and improving quality and efficiency.
- Training of employees in work processes.
- Performing analytical procedures to determine concentration, purity and identity of samples as well as other sophisticated methods.
- Performing other activities (e.g. transfection, harvest, capture and polishing) only on separate instruction and when required.
- Documenting results and completing work tasks in accordance with timelines and quality standards.
- Writing and reviewing SOPs and work instructions.
- Support troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and error prevention related to analytical and downstream processing activities.
- Leading projects to improve and further develop processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
• BSc or MSc Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry a related discipline.
• Practical experience in downstream processing and/or analytical characterization of proteins.
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as CE-SDS, HPLC, mass spectrometry and protein concentration assays.
• Experience with analytical data evaluation, interpretation, and documentation.
Understanding of chromatography-based capture and polishing steps preferred.
• Ability to work according to SOPs requirements in a regulated biotech environment.
• Experience with method troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvement is an advantage.
• Strong documentation skills and a structured, detail-oriented approach to laboratory work.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Good communication skills, Fluency in English and/or German
