You will build your own research area in the field of medical informatics at the Institute of Computer Science with your team. You and your team work on issues, for example, in areas such as hospital IT, process and system integration, clinical information systems, interoperability, clinical data management, and compliance.
- Leadership: Taking over the strategic, personnel, professional, and financial management of a team in the field of medical informatics. Representing the team and its topics internally and externally.
- Research & Development: Acquisition and management in the mentioned areas within the framework of third-party funded projects (Innosuisse, EU, SNF, etc.), typically in collaboration with industry partners. You publish project results in professional journals and at conferences.
- Teaching: You teach in the medical informatics and computer science degree programs in both basic and advanced modules. You are responsible for the module portfolio in your team’s topics. You supervise students in project, bachelor’s, and master’s theses. You further develop teaching modules and build new teaching modules in the field of medical informatics.
- Collaboration: You shape the strategic development in the field of medical informatics at the institute, in collaboration with other focus areas and other organizational units of ZHAW.
- You have a completed university degree with a doctorate in medical informatics, computer science, or a related field.
- You have proven research and development experience in the field of medical informatics and extensive experience in acquiring and managing research projects, preferably in the medical or health sector and/or related technologies.
- You have comprehensive industry experience of at least 5 years in the sought-after subject areas and have a network, especially in the IT and health sector (e.g., hospitals, authorities), in Switzerland and possibly also in Europe.
- Ideally, you have experience teaching at a university.
- You enjoy and preferably already have experience leading a small to medium-sized team.
- You communicate fluently in both German and English, both spoken and written.
- You have already published in relevant conferences or professional journals.
- You enjoy working both independently and in a team, are quality-conscious, and enjoy scientific and technically demanding tasks.
Part of the work (max. 50%) can be done from home office.

Teaching is conducted in German and English. You are characterized by your customer- and result-oriented way of working.
