Role:

Do you feel most comfortable where servers, storage, virtualisation, and networks interact? Then a role with considerable technical depth awaits you here. From physical hardware through Proxmox, Linux, and Ceph to Cisco, Palo Alto, and Microsoft 365, you keep an eye on the entire infrastructure and ensure it remains reliable, secure, and future-proof.

Responsibilities:

• You ensure the reliable operation of the physical server and storage landscape at several colocation sites.

• You coordinate hardware work, upgrades, cabling, and the required rack and power infrastructure.

• You monitor hardware condition, capacities, and environmental conditions and respond early to anomalies.

• You operate Proxmox clusters, virtual machines, and Linux systems and continuously develop the platform.

• You work with Ceph and ZFS and ensure a reliable storage base.

• You take care of provisioning, patching, upgrades, and monitoring of the server landscape.

• You provide essential infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and certificate services.

• You further develop backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes and ensure their functionality through testing.

• You keep inventories, lifecycle information, and technical documentation up to date.

• You automate recurring tasks and support the establishment of clean configuration management processes.

• You collaborate with colocation providers, hardware manufacturers, and external partners.

• You support Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, and the resolution of connectivity issues.

• You additionally take on tasks related to Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and Exchange Online.

• You support the internal workplace infrastructure as needed and participate in on-call duty.

Qualifications:

• You have practical experience with Linux systems and server infrastructures.

• You are familiar with Proxmox, VMware, or comparable virtualisation solutions.

• You bring knowledge of storage technologies such as Ceph or ZFS or wish to deepen it further.

• You understand server hardware, patching, monitoring, and the requirements for highly available infrastructures.

• You know the key concepts around backup, restore, and disaster recovery.

• You are confident in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NTP environments.

• Ideally, you have scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

• You bring knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, VPN, or Microsoft technologies.

• You have a suitable IT education or a comparable technical qualification.

• You are a solution-oriented team player, take ownership, and remain focused even with complex infrastructure problems.

• You speak fluent German & English
