About the job
The Talent School of the City of St.Gallen is looking for reinforcement. The Talent School is part of the Oberstufe Centrum, consisting of the Blumenau and Bürgli school buildings. Around 460 secondary school students are taught by 70 teachers in the heart of the city of St.Gallen. Of these, around 90 students are sports talents and 50 are art talents.
Your new role
Our long-standing coordinator of the Talent School Sports will retire in summer 2027. Therefore, we are looking for a competent person at the start of the 26/27 school year who is interested in competitive youth sports and supports and promotes our highly motivated talents both in sports and in everyday school life. Our Talent School is attended by gifted young people from various sports such as football, handball, judo, swimming, etc.
The position includes a part-time workload of 6 lessons (approx. 20%) of sports teaching in the sports talent classes in the first year and a workload of approx. 5% as support for the sports coordinator. In the first year, you will work closely with the current position holder, take over your share of responsibility for training the young people, and be introduced to the tasks of sports coordination. From summer 2027, you will take over the entire coordination workload of approx. 20% in addition to the sports lessons (total workload approx. 40% - 55%).
This position is suitable for you if you
- have training as a sports teacher or secondary school teacher and have completed the professional examination as a professional coach or are willing to complete it.
- have practical experience in the field of youth competitive sports, as well as in-depth expertise in athletics and have been/are active in club or association work.
- have a good approach to young people due to your personality and experience, possess very good communication and organizational skills, enjoy working with various actors in the field of school and sports, and are familiar with the primary school sector.
- have great flexibility regarding working hours and working methods.
