Start date: August 1, 2026 or by arrangement
- You are responsible for the expansion and establishment of the advertised professorship in migration law.
- Together with another professorship, you represent ZHAW in the Zurich Center for Migration Law and Research (ZMZ), a cooperation with the University of Zurich (UZH), and further develop it.
- You acquire and lead third-party funded research projects dealing with all facets of migration and interdisciplinary issues.
- You design and conduct courses in studies and continuing education on migration law, European law, and international law.
- You supervise qualification theses of students.
- You ensure knowledge transfer in development and service projects.
- Legal university degree and doctorate in law or related fields
- Several years of practical experience in the field of the professorship
- Proven research expertise and publication activity
- Experience in third-party funding acquisition and management of research and service projects
- Experience in teaching and continuing education
- Ability to communicate professionally in a multilingual environment (German, English, and preferably another language)
You have diverse interests, take responsibility for expanding the subject area, and are used to working cooperatively in expert teams. In addition, you can quickly familiarize yourself with new topics and combine high scientific competence with a strong transfer orientation. The professorship requires entrepreneurial skills with a view to practice- and professional field-relevant development areas and the ability to acquire R&D projects.
The appointment as professor is made by the University of Applied Sciences Council upon appropriate qualification.

The professorship in migration law is located in the Social Law Unit at the Institute for Corporate Law and takes a comprehensive and connecting focus on the different needs, requirements, and challenges of all involved parties, such as international workers, companies, governments, and authorities. Together with the University of Zurich (UZH), the professorship contributes to the profiling of the joint Center for Migration Law and Research Zurich (ZMZ), which deals with migration law from national, European, and international law perspectives.
