About the job

Tinsmiths ensure that a building is optimally protected against weather influences. They combine requirements for both functionality and aesthetics. In the workshop, tinsmiths manufacture components which they later install on the building. They work with sheets, pipes, plastics, and insulating materials. Construction plans and their own sketches, made during prior site visits, serve as templates. To take into account the structural situation and customer wishes, tinsmiths are required to develop creative solutions. Through their work on roofs and façades, tinsmiths contribute to ensuring that buildings meet the required standards for watertightness and energy efficiency. The profession is very varied and diverse due to work in the workshop and on roofs, in new construction and renovation.

Training
Duration: 4 years | The practical training takes place in our company as well as in supplementary inter-company courses (üK). The theoretical training is held once a week at the vocational school BBZ Bau und Gewerbe in Lucerne.

Vocational baccalaureate during training
With very good school performance, the vocational baccalaureate school can be attended.

Additional apprenticeship (shortened basic training)
e.g. Ventilation system installer with Federal VET Diploma or Sanitary installer with Federal VET Diploma

Further training
Site manager, tinsmith foreman, project manager, master tinsmith, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Tinsmiths are specialists in sheet metal and installation work on roofs and façades.
