Database Reliability Engineer (f/m/d)

On behalf of our client based in Geneva, we are looking for a Database Reliability Engineer (f/m/d) responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and automation of a heterogeneous and critical database environment.
Your mission- Ensure the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis and Kafka environments.
- Manage activities related to the database lifecycle: patching, upgrades, backup & restore, capacity planning, configuration, and decommissioning.
- Automate recurring operations, including health checks, configuration validation, backup verification, monitoring, and operational reporting.
- Analyse and resolve complex production incidents, optimise query and index performance, and enhance platform resilience.
- Contribute to the security and compliance of databases through hardening, access management, vulnerability remediation, auditability, and data protection.
Your profile
- Higher education in IT, with proven experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, Platform Engineer or Database Reliability Engineer.
- At least 3 years of experience in a lead or technical reference role, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience on PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL or SQL Server in a production environment.
- Experience with at least two technologies among SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis or Kafka, as well as strong SQL skills.
- Experience in infrastructure automation, good command of Linux and Unix Shell, and knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
- Good understanding of high availability, replication, backup and restore, performance, storage, monitoring, and access management issues.
- Ability to handle complex incidents and collaborate with development, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams; fluent English required, French appreciated.
