About us
The Institute of Infectious Diseases undertakes tasks in microbiology in the disciplines of virology, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology and serological infection diagnostics. With 200 employees, it is the only university institute in Switzerland to unite all microbiological special disciplines in research, teaching and diagnostics under one roof.
The IFIK is also the seat of the National Reference Centre for Pneumococci (NZPn) and the National Centre for Antibiotic Resistance (anresis.ch) on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health. Our biosafety centre is a collaboration centre of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Tasks
- First-level support and help desk including receipt, prioritisation, analysis and processing of IT requests as well as escalation of more complex faults
- Advice and support for employees on questions regarding ICT services and workplace systems
- Installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of Windows clients, notebooks, printers, peripheral and network devices
- Administration of selected Windows servers, services, Active Directory as well as basic network services such as DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
- Participation in patch and update management, especially with WSUS, as well as monitoring of data backups and support with restorations
- Technical support of laboratory workplaces, control systems and other institute-specific IT systems
- Support with relocations, commissioning and the integration of new or changed hardware and software into operation
- Participation in IT projects and in the introduction and further development of ICT systems
- Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, inventories and user manuals as well as conducting user training
- Support in procurement and management of IT hardware, software and consumables
- Support of selected specialised and web systems as well as participation in the IT on-call service
- Compliance with applicable regulations, directives and security guidelines
Requirements
- Completed vocational training as an IT specialist, preferably with a focus on system technology or platform development, or a comparable qualification
- Professional experience in IT support as well as in the administration of Windows systems
- Good knowledge in the areas of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies and TCP/IP
- Experience with Windows clients and Microsoft Office environments
- Knowledge in the administration of Windows servers and in patch management
- Basic knowledge in the areas of networking, data backup and IT security
- Experience with ticket systems and structured support processes is an advantage
- Independent, reliable and service-oriented working style
