Role:
You think in protocols, rule sets, and access paths. In this position as Security Operations Engineer, you are responsible for the operation and expansion of a Web Application Firewall (WAF) as well as the platform for Identity & Access Management (IAM). You keep firewalls performant and hardened both in the internal and exposed network areas. Technical depth counts more than process theory here, as you work directly on configurations, requests, and sessions. You acquire new knowledge independently and sharpen it in dialogue with specialised partner companies.
Responsibilities:
You further develop the WAF and refine rulesets, reverse proxy setups, as well as certificate and TLS configurations.
You manage the IAM landscape with single sign-on, federation trusts, token flows, and access policies.
Firewall policies, segmentation concepts, NAT rules, and VPN tunnels also fall within your area of responsibility.
Additionally, monitoring, backup concepts, and handling incidents, problems, and changes are part of your duties.
Furthermore, you analyse log data and load metrics and plan capacities early.
You also coordinate technical measures with specialist departments and suppliers and verify their effectiveness.
Qualifications:
You have a higher professional education in computer science (FH, HF) or solid IT further training, preferably with a focus on security.
Experience in operating network and security components is a clear advantage.
You are ideally familiar with authentication and federation procedures such as PKI and SAML.
Moreover, you master TCP/IP routing, HTTP headers, DNS resolution, and proxy chains in detail.
Analytical approach, structured troubleshooting, and initiative characterise your working style.
You communicate clearly in German both orally and in writing, and English technical literature poses no difficulty for you.
