The Intercantonal University of Special Education (HfH) is the most important Swiss centre of expertise for special and remedial education with around 2,000 students. In teaching, research and services, we are committed to participation and educational equity. Our work combines scientific excellence with social responsibility and is oriented towards the needs of practice, politics and the education system. The HfH library is the largest publicly accessible scientific library for special and remedial education in Switzerland. It is an important place for knowledge transfer for research and teaching in the master’s degree programmes in School Special Education, Remedial Early Education, Speech Therapy and Psychomotor Therapy, as well as the bachelor’s degree programmes in Speech Therapy, Psychomotor Therapy and Sign Language Interpreting and the Sign Language Teacher course. In addition, our library has a valuable collection of German- and English-language literature on hearing impairment from the last 200 years.To strengthen our three-person library team, we are looking for a committed and service-oriented personality to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your area of responsibility
- Counter service and supervision of the HfH shop (sales, orders, enquiries)
- Acquisition, cataloguing and management of media in the ALMA library system
- Advice as well as introduction and training of staff and students
- Analogue and digital teaching of information literacy
- Maintenance of library-wide, university-wide and HfH-internal networks
- Support in the management of the Swiss Archive on Deafness (SAG)
- Co-design of the library’s internal and external presence
- Participation in the strategic development of the library, new ideas welcome
Your profile
- Specialist in information and documentation or comparable profile
- Several years of professional experience in a scientific library
- Experience with managing journals, e-resources and archival materials
- Sound knowledge in indexing and cataloguing according to RDA
- Very good knowledge of the ALMA/PRIMO library system
- Proficient user knowledge of Microsoft programmes
- Strong service and customer orientation as well as enjoyment in dealing with people
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching information literacy, including research consultations and literature management
- Interest in the topic "Research and AI" and willingness to undertake further training in this area
- Interest in special education topics
- Affinity for the management and maintenance of AV media
