"Tailored enforcement" is our motto at Thorberg Correctional Facility. We enforce sanctions on 180 men from over 40 nations in closed custody. Our 140 employees dedicate themselves daily to the reintegration of inmates into society, thereby making an important contribution to public safety. In eleven workshops, we lead and support inmates according to work-educational principles. Our programmes in the areas of work, therapy, education, sport and leisure are consistently aimed at risk reduction and social integration.
The newly established integration workshop is a work offer for inmates who are overwhelmed by the work positions offered by the prison. They are prepared for integration into one of our numerous workshops or one of the internal service enterprises through usually half-day work assignments. The inmates are guided towards serial but also creative activities.
Your tasks
- You actively develop the new "Integration Workshop" and contribute your ideas and experience.
- You manage the workshop according to professional standards together with a colleague, taking into account the infrastructural conditions and the prison's requirements.
- You supervise up to 20 inmates who usually work half-day in the workshop (10 workstations).
- You accompany and support the inmates according to work-educational principles and orient yourself towards individual support goals.
- You assess work performance fairly and transparently and regularly provide oral and written feedback.
- You acquire, organise and coordinate internal and external orders in consultation with the team management and ensure their professional processing in the workshop.
- You ensure professional and structured stock management including anticipatory goods replenishment/flow.
- You work interdisciplinarily with other work workshops as well as various areas of the prison.
- You ensure safety, cleanliness and order in the workshop and pay attention to consistent process orientation, a clean-desk policy and seamless administrative documentation.
- The position is fixed-term until the end of 2028. If it cannot be extended, there is the possibility to transfer to another workshop if suitable.
Your profile
- You have a federal certificate of competence in a craft profession with at least three years of professional experience and represent your craft with enthusiasm.
- You are a work educator or correctional officer with a federal specialist certificate or willing to undertake further training accordingly.
- You have experience in guiding and qualifying unskilled workers in everyday professional life.
- You are a balanced, reliable and responsible personality and are resilient, decisive and assertive.
- You work in a structured and organised manner and navigate confidently within operational guidelines and frameworks.
- You are open to people with different cultural backgrounds, with mental illnesses, challenging behaviour and sometimes difficult social situations.
- You do not lose your sense of humour even in hectic situations.
- You enjoy interdisciplinary work, manage to adopt different perspectives and therefore understand the concerns of other professional groups.
- You speak and write good German, orally also French and/or English. Additional language skills are highly desirable.
