Role:

In this role, you are responsible for the stable operation and further development of a versatile server, storage and network landscape. You work with Linux, virtualisation and storage as well as Microsoft and network technologies and take responsibility for infrastructure, support and availability.

Responsibilities:

• Operation and further development of physical server and storage infrastructures at various colocation sites

• Planning and coordination of hardware installations, replacements, upgrades, cabling and rack infrastructure

• Monitoring of hardware, capacities as well as technical and climatic operating conditions

• Operation and further development of Proxmox VE clusters, virtual machines and Linux systems

• Administration of Ceph and ZFS storage environments

• Installation, patch management, upgrades and monitoring of Linux servers and infrastructure components

• Operation of central network services such as DNS, DHCP and NTP

• Implementation and testing of backup, restore and disaster recovery processes

• Maintenance of inventories, lifecycle planning, warranties, spare devices and technical documentation

• Support in automation and configuration management

• Collaboration with colocation providers, hardware manufacturers and external service providers

• Support with Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs and connectivity troubleshooting

• Administration of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and Exchange Online

• Support with end devices, WLAN, telephony and meeting room infrastructure

• Participation in incident management, changes and the compensated on-call organisation

Qualifications:

• Practical experience in Linux system administration and operation of server infrastructures

• Experience with virtualisation solutions such as Proxmox, VMware or comparable technologies

• Knowledge of storage technologies, ideally Ceph, ZFS or distributed storage systems

• Good knowledge of server hardware, operating system installation, patch management and monitoring

• Understanding of backup, restore, high availability and disaster recovery

• Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP and general network services

• Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python or a comparable scripting language is an advantage

• Knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto or VPN technologies is an advantage

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Active Directory is an advantage

• Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, personal responsibility and communication skills

• Education in computer science, system engineering or a comparable technical background

• Fluent German; English skills are an advantage
