Head of Execution

Tasks

• Strategic, personnel and organisational management and further development of the Execution division with around 95 employees and trainees across four depots, as well as leadership of the organisation across several hierarchical levels; overall responsibility for occupational safety, health protection and fleet management
• Ensuring a service-oriented organisation and execution of structural maintenance work, enhancement measures, winter services and other structural and operational measures on public land
• Development and implementation of the strategic direction of the division in line with the overarching goals of the Department of Civil Engineering and the City of Zurich, as well as early identification of relevant developments and action requirements
• Continuous development and optimisation of activities and processes in the client-contractor principle according to the principles of sustainable development, circular economy and net zero, supported by advancing digitalisation, as well as introducing and implementing current trends
• Responsibility for personnel and succession planning, personnel development and recruitment across all hierarchical levels, as well as leadership and participation in interdisciplinary steering committees, projects and working groups on division topics and beyond

Profile

• Higher education (HF, FH or ETH) in construction/planning with supplementary business and leadership training
• Forward-looking and service-oriented personality with many years of practical experience in leading larger organisations
• Proven specialist and methodological competence in road/civil engineering and in the enhancement of public spaces
• Willingness to take on subject responsibility, lead strategic topics and project management of very demanding cross-sectional tasks such as planning and execution of urban green, enhancement or mobility measures
• High social and communication skills, confident German in spoken and written form, strong sense of responsibility, pronounced independence and credible role model function
