Service Dog Handler 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialisation of prisoners and the protection of the general public.
We are looking for a responsible and reliable person with pronounced social skills to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited until 28 February 2027.
Your area of responsibility
- Together with your service dog, you ensure safety and order throughout the entire JVA Pöschwies site, thus making an important contribution to smooth and secure prison operations
- With prudence and professionalism, you support interventions as well as prisoner transports and contribute to safe execution in demanding situations
- You take control of incoming and outgoing traffic including vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- In close cooperation with various departments, you support the central office as well as other work areas within the department and the entire institution
Your profile
- Completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence (EFZ), a (specialist) baccalaureate, a specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification
- Independent, committed and responsible working style as well as high mental and physical resilience
- Experience in service dog handling, own protection dog
- Flexibility for changing working hours and willingness to work shifts, including weekend, night and holiday duties
- Very good oral and written German skills, additional language skills advantageous, as well as confident use of the Microsoft Office suite
- Minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable record (no entries in the criminal and debt registers)
- Ideally, you bring experience from the fields of justice, customs, police or military
