The Opportunity

As a PI Engineer (m/f/d), you are part of the "Pharma Engineering Drug Product" circle at the Basel / Kaiseraugst site. We are responsible for innovative, GMP-compliant engineering as well as the reliable operation of complex production facilities. In a modern working environment, we support our business partners from the initial idea through project implementation to the life-cycle management of the systems.

In this role, you act as an interface between production, Pharma Engineering and ITOT. The digital landscape of our production site is actively shaped, not only by maintaining existing systems but also by building the data structure of the future.

The perfect candidate is a qualified individual with a degree or training in computer science, electrical engineering, automation technology or a comparable field. In-depth knowledge of AVEVA PI (DA, AF, DAS), experience in connecting automation systems throughout the entire lifecycle, as well as a broad understanding of network technology and system integration in an industrial environment are required. Several years of experience as a system engineer, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment, and know-how in automated pharmaceutical manufacturing are necessary. Practical experience with SQL is an advantage. The profile is rounded off by fluent German skills and good English skills.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• System Architect: Responsibility for connecting automation systems to AVEVA PI and data modelling in PI AF. This includes configuring interfaces, managing adjacent components (PI Vision, PI DAS) and ensuring continuous maintenance throughout the lifecycle.
• Solution Design: Joint analysis of requirements for the PI system with internal business partners and implementation of optimal, GMP-compliant solutions.
• Project Engineering: Planning and handling projects focused on PI Historian - from specification to handover to operations.
• Operations & Support: Jointly ensuring administration and smooth operation within the team (including fault analysis, root cause analysis and deviation handling).
• Compliance: Managing change control processes as well as qualification and validation activities according to Roche guidelines.
• Knowledge Transfer: Training employees and supporting customers with technical questions and regulatory inspections.

Must Haves:

• Degree or training in computer science, electrical engineering, automation technology or a comparable field
• Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AVEVA PI and associated infrastructure components (DA, AF, DAS) as well as experience in connecting automation systems and maintaining these connections throughout the lifecycle
• Experience with SQL is an advantage
• IT Architecture: Broad understanding of network technology and system integration in an industrial environment
• Several years of experience as a system engineer with project engineering experience, ideally in a GMP-regulated environment
• Know-how in automated pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Fluent German is essential and English is an advantage
