The Social Welfare Office of the Canton of Schaffhausen fulfils overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, victim support and advance maintenance payments. It is responsible for the approval, financing and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities as well as for residential child and youth services. In addition, it operates the specialist unit for equality, violence prevention and protection against violence. Furthermore, the office performs tasks on behalf of the federal government in the asylum and refugee sector.

Intern Social Work FH, 80-100 %
What to expect- Support for persons from the asylum and refugee sector in their linguistic, professional and social integration
- Participation in case management as well as personal and financial social assistance according to cantonal guidelines
- Advising refugees and triaging to appropriate services
- Providing information on various areas of life
- Collaboration and networking with specialist agencies, authorities, volunteers and course providers
- Contributing to the further development of the Social Counselling and Integration area
- Practical supervision and professional support in everyday work according to the requirements of the university of applied sciences
What you bring
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme in Social Work at a university of applied sciences
- Interest in social counselling, financial social assistance and integration
- Enjoyment in engaging with people from different cultures
- Structured, independent and careful working style
- High communication skills and confident oral and written expression
- Empathy, resilience, assertiveness, ability to work in a team
- Good user knowledge of MS Office
