Head of IT Operations & Delivery / Deputy CIO

On behalf of a major Swiss organisation, we are seeking an experienced IT leader. Our client offers a demanding system landscape and a diverse project portfolio. Their digital services are central to the daily operations and further development of the organisation.

In this newly created key role, you will lead the operational IT organisation with over 200 employees and act as deputy to the CIO. You will have the scope to effectively combine operations and implementation and achieve visible results together with your leadership team.

Your challenge

You provide direction when many demands meet limited resources. You lead experienced managers, keep operations stable, and ensure that initiatives deliver reliable results.

• You lead the operational IT organisation across several levels, set clear goals, and develop your leaders and their teams further.
• You are responsible for reliable IT operations and strengthen service quality and operational processes. You effectively combine ITIL and agile delivery in daily practice.
• You translate priorities into a realistically deliverable portfolio, deploy resources purposefully, and make clear decisions together with the business units.
• You bring complex initiatives to completion: you coordinate dependencies, resolve blockages, and ensure an orderly handover to operations.
• You earn the trust of demanding stakeholders and create commitment – from clarifying the mandate through participation to acceptance and expected benefits.
• You manage budgets and external partners, further develop architecture and standards, and prepare the adoption of new solutions with those responsible for strategy.

Your qualities and talents

• You hold a university degree in computer science, business informatics, business administration, or an equivalent qualification.
• You bring at least ten years of leadership experience across two management levels and have been responsible for a larger IT organisation with at least 100 employees, budget, and critical infrastructure.
• You understand the balance between stable operations and complex project delivery. You have successfully managed extensive portfolios and limited resources.
• You are proficient in ITIL and SAFe from practical experience. You can integrate both approaches and motivate your team to apply them consistently.
• Knowledge of Cloud Native, DevSecOps, workbenches, or managed services is an advantage.
• You lead with calmness and confidence, listen attentively, and make clear decisions. Even with differing interests, you build trust and ensure agreements are honoured.
• You willingly take on operational responsibility and ensure that commitments result in reliable outcomes.
• You communicate fluently in German and are confident in English in a professional context.
