About the job

We are Solifos – a Swiss fibre optic cable manufacturer with over 25 years of experience in fibre optic sensors and tactical communication systems. Our purchasing department ensures that fibres, sheath materials, connectors, and special parts arrive on time in production. To strengthen our team, we are looking for you: someone who, together with our buyer, manages the day-to-day business and is eager to develop further beyond that.

Technical Buyer (m/f/d)

Your role

• You form the purchasing team together with our existing buyer and take responsibility for part of the suppliers and materials independently
• You place orders, track deadlines, check order confirmations, and follow up with suppliers if there are any issues
• You obtain quotes, compare them, and negotiate prices and delivery terms in daily business
• You work closely with production, work preparation, development, and quality departments and understand the technical requirements behind the requests
• You handle complaints towards suppliers
• You maintain supplier and material master data in the ERP system and keep the data clean
• Depending on needs, you support procurement for customer projects, and over time you can also grow into strategic topics such as supplier selection or framework agreements

What you bring

• Commercial or technical basic training, ideally with further education in purchasing (e.g. purchasing specialist or equivalent)
• Experience in operational purchasing in a manufacturing company is an advantage
• Confident use of ERP systems (ideally SAP) and MS Office
• Enjoyment of negotiations and a good sense for supplier relationships
• Structured, reliable working style and team spirit
• Curiosity and willingness to take on responsibility beyond daily business
• Very good German and good English skills
