The Language Center of the University of Basel promotes language acquisition as well as language and communication skills in around 20 languages for students, researchers, and staff for study, work, and everyday life.
Your tasks
- Language teaching (in-person courses) according to the guidelines of the Swiss Deaf Association using contemporary didactic methods and the ADAM learning platform of the University of Basel as well as the use of new technologies (e.g., digital whiteboards) at levels A1 to B1 of the CEFR, approximately 2-4 lessons per week per semester
- Semester course planning including conception, preparation, and follow-up of individual teaching units; development and continuous updating of teaching materials; planning, creation, and implementation of learning success controls including correction and feedback
- Learning support and counseling of participants, possibly placement of persons with prior knowledge
- Implementation of the quality standards of the Language Center as a university institution and independent as well as cooperative work in the team
- Independent and cooperative teamwork
- Contact person for interested parties and course participants
Your profile
- Degree as a sign language specialist or sign language teacher (FAGS)
- Very good language skills in German (at least B2) and DSGS (C2)
- Several years of experience in DSGS teaching for adults
- Knowledge of the university sector is an advantage
- Enjoy teaching a demanding, academic audience, taking into account the needs of different target groups (students, staff, etc.)
