Role:
As a Routing & Switching Engineer, you design a network and security architecture that grows with the company’s requirements. You combine technical depth in firewall technologies with a clear view of the big picture. Complex disruptions are intriguing puzzles for you. At the same time, you shape collaboration within the IT team and gladly share your know-how.
Responsibilities:
You manage the firewall environment from configuration to strategic development
You are the first point of contact for colleagues from other departments regarding network and security questions
You plan LAN, WAN, and WLAN structures, implement them, and ensure their availability, stability, and scalability
Additionally, you handle demanding cases in 2nd and 3rd level support and find the cause behind every failure
Together with system and security engineers, you develop a seamless architecture
You also keep network documentation and operational concepts up to date and promote agile methods and knowledge transfer within the team
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering forms your foundation, alternatively an equivalent qualification
You have several years of practical experience in network engineering
You are proficient in routing protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and BGP, as well as VLAN, VPN, DNS, switching, and certificate management
Furthermore, you understand system security holistically and confidently set priorities even when things get hectic
You enjoy mentoring young talents and feel comfortable in teams with diverse disciplines
You also translate technical language into terms that laypeople and customers understand and are fluent in both spoken and written German and English
