Job description
This is a full-time full professor position including teaching at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, primarily for courses in asset pricing and quantitative finance, financial markets and risk management, machine learning in finance, artificial intelligence applied to finance, quantitative asset management, fintech and financial innovation, sustainable and environmental finance, including supervision of master’s dissertations and doctoral theses. The main objective of this position is to strengthen the research and teaching capacities of GSEM in the field of Finance, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence applied to finance. This position will also consolidate the University of Geneva’s contribution to the activities of the SFI in research, doctoral training, master’s programmes and international academic visibility in rapidly expanding areas related to AI and finance.
We are particularly interested in candidates with an already established international scientific reputation, capable of playing a central role in the future development of the GFRI and in sustainably strengthening its international scientific standing, while actively contributing to the academic missions of GSEM. The recruited person must be able to significantly strengthen GFRI research, teaching offerings at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, interdisciplinary collaborations within the University, and the Faculty’s international outreach.
They must also assume management and organisational tasks related to their role within the GFRI, actively engage in the GSEM community, collaborate with its various stakeholders and contribute to GFRI initiatives.
Affiliation with the GFRI will offer the successful candidate an attractive, internationally recognised scientific environment and membership of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI).
Required title and skills
The candidate must hold a doctorate. They must demonstrate research excellence evidenced by a solid record of publications in leading economics journals and proven expertise in artificial intelligence and finance. The ability to link high-quality academic research to economic policy debates will be a major asset.
Teaching experience in artificial intelligence and finance at various academic levels, as well as strong pedagogical skills, is expected. The candidate must teach in English; the ability to teach in French will also be an advantage.

The primary objective of this position is to strengthen the research and teaching capacities of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) in the field of finance, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence applied to finance. The position will also contribute to reinforcing the University of Geneva’s role in the activities of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI), including research, doctoral training, master’s programs, and international academic visibility in rapidly growing areas related to AI and finance.
