Role:

As a specialist in network, firewall & VPN, you work where data streams converge between customers, locations, and data centres. Your toolbox ranges from BGP through MPLS to firewall and VPN architectures. Instead of just processing tickets, you actively shape the core and access infrastructure. In tricky fault scenarios, you are the last escalation level and keep a cool head. Additionally, you gain a lot of practical experience in the data centre, where you get hands-on.

Responsibilities:

• You design network and security solutions for customer projects and implement them technically precisely in operation

• You build and maintain routing architectures with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and other dynamic protocols

• You configure switches, routers, and firewalls and provide Layer-2 and Layer-3 MPLS services in the provider environment

• In 3rd-level support, you investigate faults down to the protocol level and document the root cause thoroughly

• Furthermore, you are responsible for firmware upgrades, migrations, and network audits and integrate new systems and customers into the architecture

• You also evaluate capacities and performance and support data centre projects from physical cabling to coupling data centres

Qualifications:

• You have at least 3 years of professional experience in network and security engineering

• Routing, switching, TCP/IP as well as IPv4 and IPv6 are familiar territory for you, as are trunking, STP/RSTP, and VLAN segmentation

• Moreover, you have already implemented peering concepts, routing tables, and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) in practice

• You confidently use site-to-site and remote-access VPN, NAT, and ACLs and consider high availability and failover from the outset

• You have experience in the carrier or service provider environment, work in a structured manner, and use tools like Wireshark for analyses

• Ideally, you also bring know-how with components from Fortinet, Ruckus, Cisco, Extreme, or Brocade, communicate confidently in German, and are also comfortable in English
