In a nutshell
The service area of Organization, Law, and Accreditation (OA) provides cross-departmental services for the entire SECO in various areas, including legal advice. Hierarchically, the OA service area is directly subordinate to the State Secretary of SECO. The Legal Department (OARE) in the OA service area advises and supports the State Secretary, the management, and the line in legal matters. The scope of tasks includes administrative, contractual, and procedural legal issues. In addition, the Legal Department takes on legislative, enforcement, and supervisory tasks in various areas of economic law, particularly in the area of unfair competition and price disclosure.
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is the federal competence center for all core issues of economic and labor market policy and belongs to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (WBF). It promotes international market opening for goods, services, and investments. To reduce poverty, SECO is engaged in economic development cooperation. It plans economic and trade policy measures in favor of developing countries, Eastern European and Central Asian countries, as well as the new member states of the European Union (EU).
