The Office for the Environment ensures the protection and sustainable management of natural resources and ensures that the environment of the Canton of Solothurn remains worth living in. For the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, we are looking for a Scientific Employee Hydrometry, 40-60% at the Solothurn location from 01.01.2027 or by arrangement.

Your responsibilities

• You ensure, in cooperation with external contractors, the smooth operation and maintenance of the cantonal hydrometry measurement network and coordinate hydrometry with the federal government and other cantons.
• By plausibility checks, preparation, and evaluation of measurement data, you provide important foundations for internal and external users.
• Increasing hydrological extreme events (floods, droughts) require you to actively manage exceptional situations in surface waters.
• The ongoing updating of the water network, updating of eco-morphology, and publication of important data for the public are part of your duties.
• You are a member of the cantonal flood on-call service.

Your profile

• You have acquired your professional skills through a university degree in engineering or environmental sciences or a higher environmental technical qualification and have experience in hydrometry, eco-morphology, drought/flood management, and data analysis.
• You enjoy initiating and leading projects and bring experience in project management.
• You are familiar with GIS, databases, and software for statistical data analysis.
• You bring patience, humour, and the conviction to commit yourself to a good cause.
• You enjoy working in a team and are ready to tackle tasks and challenges with commitment.
