Context
The Institute of Sports Sciences (ISSUL-FBM) is UNIL's main center for teaching and research in the interdisciplinary field of sports sciences. It brings together experts in human and social sciences (history, psychology, management, economics, sociology) and life sciences (physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine) within the Olympic capital.
Mission
Main missions:
- Conduct independent and innovative research in the field of exercise biochemistry, both fundamental and translational to humans, funded by peer-reviewed grants and published in international peer-reviewed journals
- Participate in the education and knowledge transmission mission of ISSUL and UNIL and also supervise/lead master’s and doctoral students (see job description)
- Coordinate research with those developed at ISSUL, the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Sport (CIRS), and other faculty groups (e.g., Department of Biomedical Sciences)
- Contribute to the scientific and academic life of the Institute and Faculty, ensure the visibility of UNIL, FBM, and ISSUL at regional, national, and international levels, particularly by helping to organize and actively participating in scientific events.
Profile
Desired profile:
- PhD in biomedical sciences, sports sciences with specialization/experience in exercise biochemistry or equivalent qualification
- Postdoctoral experience desired in molecular biology and/or sports sciences, or equivalent
- Strong background in molecular mechanisms of skeletal muscle adaptation to exercise and pathology including muscle diseases (animal model, cell culture, calcium signaling, etc.), demonstrated by high-level publications
- Pedagogical knowledge with proven practice in teaching exercise biochemistry
- Previous experience in (co)supervising master’s and possibly doctoral theses
- Ability to obtain peer-reviewed funding
- Training to conduct animal experiments (RESAL module 2) or equivalent training
- Preference will be given to an open personality willing to communicate and cooperate
- Excellent knowledge of English and French (mother tongue or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it quickly.
