The primary job responsibilities are as follows:
- Monitor daily local and foreign language newspapers and prepare daily press reports
- Translate into English relevant news articles from local and foreign language newspapers for the daily press reports.
- Follow local media conferences, media briefings, announcements from the host government and UN agencies and file reports.
- Assist the political section of the Permanent Mission in conducting research work on specified topics related to the United Nations, and prepare reports where required.
- Attend United Nations/international organisations-related meetings and conferences, and producing reports on the same.
- Translate documents from French/German into English, and vice-versa.
- Provide interpretation support at official meetings and functions.
Administrative matters:
- Cover the administrative duties of other office staff, where required.
Other duties:
- Assist in the organisation of events hosted or participated in by the Mission.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- Fluent in English, French, and German. Certificates of proficiency attainment should be provided where available (spoken and written).
- University degree. Prior experience in translation/research work or of international organisations would be an advantage.
- Strong research and analytical skills. Demonstrated experience in producing written briefings and reports would be an advantage.
- Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reasonable IT and Microsoft applications knowledge.
